7 Amazing Gardens on the English Riviera

This National Gardening Week 2021, get out and find inspiration amongst the fantastic gardens around the English Riviera. We’ve put together this guide to help you get outside this year and Explore The Outdoors with the English Riviera Attractions.

1. Coleton Fishacre

This RHS accredited garden offers tantalising seaviews as you weave through tranquil ponds and tender plants from the Mediterranean, South Africa and New Zealand. Whilst you’re there, why not visit the idyllic country house and travel back in time to the Jazz Age.

2. Greenway Estate

The holiday home of the beloved Agatha Christie, Greenway is set in a romantic woodland that drifts down the hillside towards the sparkling Dart estuary. The house has barely changed since Agatha holidayed there and offers a fantastic insight into the life of the Queen of Crime.

3. Cockington Country Park

With 450 acres to explore, three man made lakes and a Tudor rose garden, you’ll be spoilt for choice when visiting Cockington. Head to the Craft Centre to discover artists and makers in their studios and purchase your very own handmade gift. 

4. Torre Abbey

The Bay’s most iconic building, Torre Abbey is also home to award winning gardens. Head to the Potent Plants Garden dedicated to Torquay’s Agatha Christie, to discover more about the Queen of Crime’s inspiration. 

5. Occombe Farm

A working farm based in Paignton, Occombe Farm is bustling with wildlife and beautiful views of the surrounding woodlands. Remember to say hello to the animals grazing in the fields!

6. Paignton Zoo

Paignton Zoo is much more than just a home to 2,500 animals! Its also a botanic garden with beautifully landscaped gardens with a Nature Trail offering a home to native wildlife too.

7. Babbacombe Model Village

A fantastic day out for all the family, you’ll feel like a giant as you head into the beautifully landscaped gardens at Babbacombe Model Village! Set in 4.5 acres with hundreds of species of plants, shrubs and trees, the gardens offer a visual delight for visitors throughout the seasons.
